Planning staff reports two hires; Cherry Lane study and design-guideline updates continue

At the end of the Oct. 15 workshop, planning staff provided a brief update on staffing and ongoing projects.
Assistant director Van Newman said the department hired a second landscape zoning inspector, Chase Payson, who started the previous week and is working with existing staff; the department also hired planner Steven Anthony to fill a planner position. Newman noted Anthony has a family connection to previous local planning leadership and said both hires strengthen the department’s capacity for inspections and project review.
Staff also reported the Cherry Lane corridor study is still on schedule for presentation to city council in January and that updates to design guidelines are moving forward with two stakeholder meetings remaining.
No action was required; the report was informational and the commission adjourned after the update.
