The Murfreesboro Planning Commission on Oct. 15 set Dec. 3 public hearings for an annexation petition and companion rezoning to RS-6 for approximately 6.41 acres at the end of Majesty Drive and Cicero Drive.
Mr. Donovan presented the annexation and companion rezoning, showing a concept plan that identified roughly 17 potential single-family lots. He said the property is within the city’s urban growth boundary, contiguous to existing city limits on two sides, and is within the city’s service infill line. Staff will prepare a draft plan of services to be available at the public hearing.
The RS-6 district standards (6,000-square-foot minimum lots, setbacks and coverage limits) were explained; staff noted some requirements such as masonry materials on fronts may apply and the comprehensive plan designation for the parcel may be updated via the city’s transition policy if commissioners find it appropriate. The commission voted unanimously to set the Dec. 3 public hearings for the annexation and the RS-6 rezoning.
Representatives for the applicant and city staff were present to answer questions; planning staff said more detailed materials including the draft plan of services will be provided at the hearing.
