Planning Commission approves exterior-material substitution for downtown development

The Murfreesboro Planning Commission on Oct. 15 approved a request to change exterior materials and colors for a previously approved building by applicant Pradeep Agnihotri.
Staff presented the request, saying the design team discovered long lead times for the decorative cast stone originally approved and proposed replacing it with two brick types identified in the submittal. Brad Barber, presenting for staff, said the substitute materials meet the intent of the Murfreesboro design guidelines and the design overlay for the property on Robert Rose Drive and recommended the commission review the change.
The commission moved and seconded approval “subject to all staff comments.” The clerk called the roll and recorded unanimous approval by the commissioners present.
The change affects only exterior cladding and color; staff noted other materials shown on the original approval remain unchanged. The commission did not condition the approval on additional design changes but made the action contingent on staff comments already recorded in the project file.
No public comment was received during this agenda item. Planning staff and the applicant’s architect were present to answer questions about material samples and colors.
