Council heard that the borehole reached about 2,650 feet and that water was encountered intermittently; staff reported a static water level about 80 feet below the surface. Officials said the pump brought to the site is a variable-speed unit and that firm production figures will depend on pump testing and drawdown observations.
City staff said they are hopeful the well will produce at least 1,000 gallons per minute and estimated it could deliver around 1,500 gpm based on the driller’s initial observations. The driller described the equipment and noted some installation delays attributable to damaged threading on piping the contractor supplied; staff said the contractor expects to resolve that and begin testing in the coming week.
The council approved the pay request by roll-call vote with no recorded opposition. The council directed staff to continue monitoring completion and to return with any change orders or problems.
