The LaSalle City Council on Oct. 13 approved an ordinance authorizing a tax increment financing redevelopment agreement with Hoover Real Estate and Alexandra Hoover for the property at 901 First Street, the former office-supply building.
City leaders and the developers said the project will include a restaurant component. During the meeting, one council member asked about the project timeline; the applicant said they hope to open by spring, subject to permitting and construction schedules. The council voted to approve the ordinance on a roll-call vote with no recorded opposition.
The agreement was presented to the council as a redevelopment project intended to reuse a vacant commercial building in downtown LaSalle. The developers attended the meeting and answered brief questions about experience and plans for the site. No ordinances, tax rates or specific tax-increment figures were read into the public record during the motion; the council approved the ordinance as presented.
Council members who cast recorded votes on the ordinance registered their support during the roll call. No member registered a no vote or abstention.
The council did not move into executive session after the vote, and other routine business followed.
Provenance: Excerpts of the council discussion and votes appear in the meeting transcript beginning at 00:19:01 and concluding with the roll call at 00:20:36.
