Oversight board accepts auditors crowd-control analysis, urges committee-level work on annual report

The Akron Citizens Police Oversight Board voted to accept Auditor Fennells analysis of crowd-control policy recommendations during its governance report.
"We would like to motion the acceptance of the analysis presented by auditor Fennell of the crowd pulse crowd control policy recommendations," Miss Castle told the board, and the motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
Board members discussed returning more work to committees to allow detailed review and public participation before items reach the full board. Miss Castle said the governance committee revisited the boards strategic plan, refocused committee roles for onboarding new members and plans to collaborate with the auditors office on an annual report.
Members were reminded that each board member should join at least one committee (governance, community engagement or review) and that harassment-prevention training must be completed by Nov. 20. Board members agreed the committee level is where much of the substantive work should be vetted before full-board votes.
The board recorded the vote for the crowd-control-analysis acceptance by roll call: Anaskevich, Castle, Krebs, Hawkins, Weems and Boyd voted yes; the motion passed.
