Shakopee High expands construction pathway, proposes separate intro courses to deepen hands-on training

Shakopee High School teachers and a student representative told the Shakopee Public School District Board on Oct. 6 that the high school's construction pathway is expanding and proposed a curricular split to give students more focused, hands-on experience.
Brett Kaulfield, a Shakopee High School construction instructor, said the district is proposing to separate a combined "Introduction to Construction and Introduction to Manufacturing" course into two classes beginning next year to give ninth- and tenth-graders "a little bit more time in each field" and more authentic early exposure.
