The Cannon Falls Area Schools Board on Nov. 1 approved several administrative items in a short meeting that included: an amendment and restatement of the district's Health Reimbursement Agreement (HRA) with Mid America Administrative and Retirement Solutions; an update to Policy 707 (transportation of public school students) to align with MSBA guidance and GCDE procedures; and routine consent-agenda personnel actions including teaching-staff acknowledgements.
HRA amendment: The board considered a resolution to amend and restate the district's HRA contract with Mid America Administrative and Retirement Solutions. After a staff presentation (Josh), a motion was made and seconded. The board conducted a roll-call-style affirmation; the transcript records affirmative votes from Luke, Quentin, Rodney and Jody during the recording. The chair announced the motion carried.
Policy 707: Jeff briefed the board on proposed changes to Policy 707, explaining the update adopts MSBA 707 language and follows GCDE protocol for transporting students to care and treatment placements. Jeff said the policy sets a 60-mile boundary for placements the district will consider for transport, with a small number of options within that circle. The board moved and approved the policy update by voice vote.
Consent agenda: The board approved routine consent-agenda items, including teaching-staff acknowledgements and appointments. The chair recognized retiring staff and welcomed returning employees during the consent vote.
Adjournment and next steps: The board announced an additional public presentation on the levy to be held May (time listed in the meeting as 06:00) and stated childcare will be provided for attendees. The meeting adjourned after the board moved and carried the final motion.
