During committee reports the Cannon Falls Area Schools Board received updates on early childhood programs and marketing.
A board member said Cannon Kids is at about 172 students with 20 new enrollments. Preschool enrollment was reported at 95; the speaker said there were two families on a wait list and three additional inquiries. The board noted preschool classrooms average about 18 children per room.
The district's marketing committee reported a 37% increase in online engagement over the last year and said efforts will target a slightly wider geographic area, including outreach toward nearby Rochester-area communities. The Ed Foundation meeting held in September was described as well attended; the board did not provide a fundraising total during the meeting.
The student representative, Abby, gave a separate report summarizing homecoming events (powder puff football and volleyball, coronation of king and queen, senior picnic and pep fest) and athletics (girls tennis advanced to individual matches after finishing second in team sections; girls soccer earned the top seed in its section; other fall sports nearing sectionals).
