The proclamation urges residents to buy listed products, charge batteries safely with certified chargers and recycle batteries responsibly to reduce household fire risk.
The council accepted the proclamation by voice vote after a motion from Councilmember Burrowson and a second from Councilmember Garza.
The proclamation text, as read at the meeting, notes that lithium‑ion batteries can overheat, ignite or explode if misused, damaged or improperly charged; it also encourages residents to ensure working smoke alarms and to support local fire‑safety outreach.
