The Safety and Transportation Committee approved an MDOT sponsor agreement for terminal improvements at the Jackson County airport. Juan (airport staff) presented the contract identified in the packet as "2025DashO757," describing the work as improvements, modifications and rehabilitation of the terminal building. He said the full contract amount is $2,105,265 and that the county’s local contribution is below $75,000, which allowed the committee to act on the item rather than forwarding it to the full board.
"This is a contract to, between the state and the county for the improvements, modifications, and rehabilitation of the terminal building," Juan said. He described the local and state shares in the packet: the project was originally a $2,000,000 project and the contract is for $2,105,265, which includes a local share of $52,634 and a state share listed as the corresponding amount.
Commissioner Behr moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Williams supported the motion. The committee voted unanimously to approve the MDOT sponsor agreement (motion passed and recorded as unanimous). No further board action was required at the committee level because the county share is under $75,000.
