Cheyenne committee backs $1.16 million bid to replace Dunbar concession and restroom building

Jason Sanchez, director of Community Recreation and Events, told the committee Oct. 21 that the city demolished the old Dunbar concession/restroom building and engaged a designer. The recommended construction contract will build new concessions facing north toward the lake, new restrooms and storage for paddle boards and other park equipment.
Sanchez said the old building, constructed in the late 1950s, was dilapidated and needed replacement. The concession area will operate for most of the year, particularly in spring, summer and fall. The project schedule lists April 15, 2026 as the anticipated completion date. The restrooms will include four fixtures each in the men’s and women’s rooms.
A motion to accept the bid not to exceed $1,155,700 was moved and seconded; the committee voted in favor and will recommend approval to the full council on Monday.
