Committee recommends $236,641 bid to install drip irrigation for High Plains Arboretum trees

Jason Sanchez, director of Community Recreation and Events, told the committee Oct. 21 that the recommended bid will install drip irrigation for slightly more than 1,200 trees at the High Plains Arboretum.
Sanchez said the current system uses flood irrigation from the Round Top area and that some trees are missed, which requires staff to supplement with truck-based watering. The proposed drip system would place water at each tree, eliminate the need for flood irrigation in that area and reduce staff time. Funding would come from a Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources Arboretum Grant.
A motion to accept the bid not to exceed $236,641 was moved and seconded; the committee voted in favor and will recommend adoption at the full council meeting on Monday.
