He said gear that reaches 10 years of service often cannot be reissued for NFPA‑compliant operations and is repurposed for non‑compliant or training uses.
Staff presented the request as a routine capital replacement to ensure firefighters have current protective equipment; no council vote or additional funding request was recorded at the meeting.
