County issues proclamations for National 4‑H Week and Domestic Violence Awareness Month; local nonprofit The Well introduced

The Aransas County Commissioners Court adopted two proclamations on Oct. 1: one designating October 2025 as National 4‑H Week in Texas and another designating October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month.
Megan Glidden, Texas A&M AgriLife extension agent, presented the 4‑H proclamation and introduced three youth participants who described their projects, including photography, chess and food nutrition. “We are proud to honor the Texas 4‑H Youth Development Program,” Glidden said while reading the proclamation text noting the program’s statewide reach and volunteer base.
The court also adopted a domestic violence proclamation and heard from members of The Well, a local nonprofit focused on serving survivors and building a shelter in Aransas County. Stephanie Simmons, board president of The Well, said the group currently provides referrals and resource navigation and seeks to establish a local shelter in the future. Several board members and volunteers, including survivors who spoke, introduced themselves and thanked the court for the recognition.
The court offered the organizations formal recognition; no county funding or binding commitments were made at the meeting.
