Assistant Superintendent of Operations Jared Rossing presented the district's official third‑Friday enrollment numbers on Oct. 13, reporting incremental increases in students and full‑time‑equivalent (FTE) counts used for state revenue calculations.
Rossing said the district's total K–12 students in seats increased by 83 students compared with last year's second‑Friday count and that, when converted to FTE, the district's grand total was 7,039 — an increase of 38 FTE from the prior comparable count. He explained that the third‑Friday numbers are a key input into the district's revenue‑limit calculation, which determines state equalization aid and allowable property tax revenue.
Rossing provided open‑enrollment detail: 270 students were noted as transferring in (including 81 students attending from recent applications and 141 returning open‑enrollment students), and 185 students were transferring out. He said 211 of the incoming students came from the Madison School District. Rossing told the board that this result continues a positive net open‑enrollment trend for the district and that the administration will include the new FTE total in forthcoming finance work tied to the budget and revenue estimates.
No board action was required; members asked clarifying questions about historical FTE numbers and the report will be used for finance planning.
