The Deer Creek Board approved Change Order No. 1 to the construction management agreement with Willowbrook Inc. to expand the new middle school cafeteria.
District and contractor representatives described the change order as an increase of roughly $1,300,000 to expand the cafeteria footprint by a little more than 3,000 square feet. District staff said the addition is primarily seating area; the kitchen footprint will remain as originally designed.
Contract representatives said the change will extend the contractor’s work on that portion of the project, but they do not expect the additional work to delay turnover of the rest of the building. The district indicated the cost will be covered by previously allocated bond/insurance funds. Board members asked about liquidated-damages provisions and were told there are no liquidated-damages charges in the contract for this scope; the contractor said some other contracts include small daily amounts but not this one.
A motion to approve the change order was made, seconded and carried 3–0.
