Placerville council ratifies IUOE Local 39 MOU and approves salary provisions for unrepresented units
Summary
Placerville on Aug. 12 approved a retroactive memorandum of understanding with IUOE Stationary Engineers Local 39 and adopted corresponding salary and benefit provisions for several unrepresented employee units.
Placerville staff asked the council on Aug. 12 to retroactively approve and affirm a 2025-26 memorandum of understanding with the International Union of Operating Engineers Stationary Engineers Local 39 and to adopt salary and benefit provisions for confidential, executive management and supervisory units.
Mr. Warren presented the item as routine and explained the tentative agreement was previously ratified in closed session on March 11 and reported out to the public that evening. He said the deal points are outlined in the staff report and recommended the council adopt the MOU and the parallel salary and benefit provisions for the unrepresented non-sworn positions.
Staff estimated the total projected cost for the Local 39 MOU and salary/benefit provisions for the three unrepresented units at $373,362 and told the council that the fiscal-year 2025-26 operating budget already incorporated that amount. After no public comment, the council moved and seconded the item and approved the resolutions by roll call.
No substantive amendments were offered during the public session and staff said the action aligns with past practice to maintain consistent salary and benefit provisions across represented and unrepresented units.
