Deer Creek superintendent highlights strong test scores, extracurricular honors and enrollment updates

Dr. Jason Perez, superintendent of Deer Creek Schools, opened the meeting by thanking principals and staff and highlighting recent student achievements and community events, including homecoming activities and district arts and athletics honors.
Perez told the board that Deer Creek serves more than 8,200 students and that district assessment results “finished first or second” in comparative rankings against Metro Area 6 districts and the state across multiple grade levels and subjects. He singled out seventh-grade math performance as about 33% above the state average.
Perez also recognized individual and program accomplishments: Prairie Veil Elementary principal Michelle Anderson will be honored at a Blue Tide Night event sponsored by the Deer Creek Schools Foundation; Deer Creek Intermediate launched an intramural basketball season for fifth- and sixth-graders; Deer Creek Theater’s one-act programs earned regional awards; and multiple middle- and high-school athletic teams and students received conference and regional recognitions.
Perez framed the academic news as a reflection of teacher and curriculum work, saying the district’s curriculum framework and daily execution contributed to the district’s high performance. He closed by thanking students, staff and families for their roles in recent events.
