The San Marcos Unified School District governing board approved its personnel agenda on Aug. 14 and introduced Christine Lee as the district's new public information officer. The board approved certified and classified personnel changes by voice vote.
Superintendent and staff introduced Christine Lee, who described more than 25 years of experience in education communications, community engagement and nonprofit leadership and said she looks forward to amplifying student and educator work across the district's 19 campuses.
Separately, the board approved a student readmit case (Case No. 1-25-26) after staff reported the student had met the requirements for readmission and that a support plan had been developed with guardians and site staff. The motion to approve the readmit case was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The meeting also included informational public hearings on renewal of an ESY (extended school year) waiver to provide 80 hours of ESY in a 4-day, 5-hour schedule and a public hearing required by Education Code section 49073.6 to notify the public when the district may collect student work submitted in social-media-like formats; both hearings drew no public speakers and were closed by the board.
