San Marcos Unified board approves guaranteed maximum price for Nob Hill Elementary renovation

At a special meeting, the San Marcos Unified School District Board of Education approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for increments 2 and 3 of the Nob Hill Elementary School renovation project, moving the work into its final phase.

District staff member Tova told the board the action covers the project's second and third (final) phases and is intended to prevent delays or overlaps in construction. "We are doing interim housing as well as grading for phase 1. This board agenda item is for the second and third and final phase," Tova said. She described the GMP as "the total guaranteed maximum price" and added, "It's not preliminary anymore. So we should expect no changes after this."

Member Carlson moved to approve the GMP for increments 2 and 3 for Balfour Beatty Construction Company; Member Martin seconded the motion. The chair called for a voice vote: "All those in favor, say aye." An "Aye" was heard and the chair stated, "Motion carries." The transcript records no opposing or abstaining votes.

The meeting packet and transcript did not include the dollar amount of the GMP; the total contract price was not specified during the presentation or vote. Tova's presentation referenced interim housing and grading work associated with phase 1, and district materials indicate increments 2 and 3 constitute the project's remaining construction scope.
