The Mineola Board of Trustees handled its consent and routine items early in the Aug. 1 meeting, approving bills and payroll, minutes, and a series of administrative authorizations.
Trustees approved bills and payroll on a motion by Trustee Casado, seconded by Trustee Clark. The board then approved the July 2 and July 9, 2025 minutes on a motion by Trustee Casado with a second from Deputy Mayor Sartori.
The board authorized the village clerk and deputy clerk to attend a Nikon Foil Training School in Lake Placid, New York, in September 2025, and approved a resolution authorizing the Village Community Development Coordinator to advance deposit payments to cover a percentage of upfront costs for Village‑ordered improvements through work orders. Trustees also authorized use of village roadways for the Mineola Public Schools high school homecoming parade on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, beginning at 12:30 p.m., on the route posted with the agenda.
Personnel and small procurement items approved under routine business included: execution of employee health benefit buyback options for two employees pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement; replacement of a mini‑split HVAC for Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps ($6,780, vendor 5 Star Mechanical); purchase of two battery powered radar speed signs and two control boards ($10,370) from Traffic Systems Inc.; hiring of John Zajac as a mechanic (Central Garage) at an annual salary of $77,500; hiring of Marcos Oliveira as a parking meter attendant at $18 per hour; and authorization to post for a parking field attendant vacancy in the Parking Enforcement Division.
All motions were moved and seconded as recorded; board approval was by voice vote with the chair announcing motions carried. Individual vote tallies for consent items were not recorded in the transcript.
