Separately, staff described a change order to Reyes General Contracting related to unexpected Edison requirements and the need to provide a temporary power station while waiting for switchgear, which increased contract costs by $119,665.18. Staff said district personnel coordinated closely with Reyes, and the funds were requested to ensure buildings could be energized for teacher and technology set-up.
Facilities staff also reported about $403,000 in kitchen/kit funds (deadline extended) used across multiple sites for servery graphics, shelving and new flooring; maintenance work over the summer included new sod, irrigation repairs, bleacher board replacement and floor coverings to protect gym floors. The board heard that the new PCY two-story classroom complex (NNP) contains 20 new classrooms and will open on Thursday, Aug. 14, with ongoing testing of HVAC and power.
The stadium turf installation at La Canada High School was noted as a large summer project; staff said the turf was not paid for with bond dollars. Board members ratified the Chalmers award and approved the Reyes change order in separate verbal roll-call votes at the meeting.
