La Canada Unified approves 2025–28 successor agreements; foundation funds one-time payments, AB1200 disclosure filed

The La Canada Unified School District Board of Education on Aug. 13 approved successor collective-bargaining agreements with the La Canada Teachers Association (LCTA) and the California School Employees Association (CSEA) chapter 122 covering the 2025–28 school years.
District staff told the board the LCTA and CSEA agreements include a 0.25% increase to each group's 2024–25 salary schedule, effective July 1, 2025, and a one-time off-schedule payment equal to 2.05% of employees' 2024–25 base salaries. The business office said those one-time payments were funded by the La Canada educational foundation via annual donations and the foundation endowment corpus.
"I want to stress that the district is facing significant financial constraints this year and for at least the next two years," a staff presenter said during the meeting, adding that foundation contributions "make a direct and meaningful difference in helping the district and LCTA reach settlement." The board approved the agreements by verbal roll-call votes.
As a separate but related action, the board approved the AB1200 public-disclosure form required under state education-code procedures that summarizes the fiscal impact of the collective-bargaining agreements. The form presented to the board estimated the combined cost associated with the contracts and related items at $1,086,598. Staff said they had submitted the document to the Los Angeles County Office of Education for the county review described in the item.
Board members thanked negotiators on all sides and representatives of the educational foundation for their roles in closing the deals ahead of the school year. The motions passed on verbal roll-call votes at the meeting.
