The Village Board awarded a snow-removal contract for the 2025–26 season to A and B Sanchez Landscaping, the low responsive bidder. The contract incorporates sidewalk work and additions compared with previous years, including walking paths on Deerfield Road and Riverwoods Road and a short street section expected to become public with upcoming intersection work.
Director Witt explained the RFP changes: the 2024–25 work had included walkways added after complaints; this year the contract documents explicitly include those paths and specify the use of calcium chloride where sidewalks abut landscaped areas. The village solicited bids from eight contractors, received four responses (one withdrew the day before), and had three responsive submittals; A and B Sanchez was the low bidder and provided references, including the village of Bannockburn, which Director Witt said gave strong references.
Trustee Jamerson asked whether the contractor would use subcontractors; Director Witt confirmed the contractor listed no subcontractors and that drivers would be direct employees. Director Witt noted the street-cleaning portion reflects about a 17% increase compared with last year, translating to approximately $1,900 more per typical snow event than the prior year. Trustees voted to approve the contract; Trustee Clayton cast the sole no vote and the motion carried on roll call.
