McKinney parks: Rec Center Town Lake to reopen Nov. 10; Light Walk ribbon cutting set for Dec. 3

Amy Kinkade, director of McKinney Parks and Recreation, told the board that the Rec Center Town Lake is close to completion: staff have begun installing equipment and furnishings and the department is preparing for an open house the weekend of Nov. 7–8, with regular hours resuming Nov. 10.
Kinkade said the Light Walk project is near completion and the city plans a ribbon cutting on Dec. 3 from 4 to 6 p.m., coordinated with the Rec Center Town Lake ceremony. The new performance stage is arriving and will be included in upcoming facility programming.
Other project updates included the Gabe Nesbitt fourplex approval at the recent council meeting and procurement steps for the Bob Thomas Dog Park and Grady Littlejohn projects. Kinkade thanked staff for executing a successful Trick-or-Treat Trail event and noted Veterans Day and other seasonal programming.
"The clear the clouds went away and the skies cleared and it was amazing event," Kinkade said of the recent Trick-or-Treat Trail, and she encouraged board members to attend the upcoming open house and ribbon-cutting events.
