The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners on a 6-0 vote granted a provisional childcare license to Faith Place Center for Arts Education Inc., allowing the organization to operate while it completes its final licensing hearing with the Child Care Advisory Board and the Department of Health.
County staff told commissioners the provisional license can run for up to six months but staff expected the matter to be finalized at the Child Care Advisory Board’s November meeting. Tammy (staff), presenting the item, said construction delays that kept the applicant from meeting the prior agenda deadline have been resolved and the provider met the conditions staff reviewed.
Commissioner John Powell moved to grant the provisional license “for the length that provisional licenses are allowed or until a final determination by the Department of Health,” and Commissioner Weiss seconded the motion. The board recorded the vote as 6-0 in favor.
The licensing process will continue through the Child Care Advisory Board and the county health officials; the provisional license enables the center to begin operations immediately under the terms described by staff. The board placed no additional conditions beyond the standard provisional license parameters described by staff.
The board returned to its zoning agenda after the vote; the childcare item was moved to the start of the meeting so students present could return to class.
Speakers quoted in this article are recorded in the public transcript as Tammy (staff) and Commissioner John Powell.
