The Watertown City School District board voted to adopt the district's school safety plan, as required by Commissioner's Regulation 155.17, and set filing instructions for compliance with state requirements.
The resolution presented notes that a public hearing on the safety plan was held on Aug. 5, 2025, and that the district's safety team developed the plan "to prevent or minimize the effects of serious violent incidents [and] emergencies" and to coordinate with local and county partners in such events. The resolution directs the superintendent to file the adopted plan with the state commissioner no later than 30 days after adoption and specifies the resolution takes effect immediately.
Following the safety plan approval, the board also approved an appointment naming Tina Lane as the district's workplace violence coordinator for the 2025–26 school year, to remain in that role until the next organizational meeting of the board.
Both actions were approved by voice vote during the consent portion of the agenda; the board chair confirmed the safety plan is publicly posted on the district website for review.
The board did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript; clerical prompts show motions, seconds and a voice vote with the chair asking "All those in favor? Any opposed?" and then stating the motion passed.
The safety plan adoption cites Commissioner's Regulation 155.17 as the authority for district safety plan requirements and the filing timeline established under that regulation.
