City staff announced seasonal locations for residents to drop off pumpkins and similar organic materials after Halloween. Rick Conrad told the board the stations at Westside Park, McCulloch Park and Halterman Park will accept pumpkins, corn stalks and bales of straw, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. He specifically confirmed painted pumpkins will be accepted.
Conrad said the program is intended to keep organic materials out of the landfill. "It's great to keep these out of the landfill," he said when describing the benefit of the drop-off stations. The announcement concluded with staff offering to answer questions; none were raised. The program was presented as an annual service.
