City introduces new finance director; manager previews legislative issues and schedule

Clinton — City officials introduced Corey Christiansen as Clinton’s new finance and administrative services director during the Nov. 12 council meeting and shared calendar and policy items for the coming weeks.

Administrator Trevor introduced Christiansen to the council: "I would like to introduce you to Corey Christiansen. He is our finance director, administrative services director extraordinaire," Trevor said. Christiansen said he was excited to join the city and noted family obligations that keep him busy: "I've got 5 kids, so I don't have any hobbies right now," he said.

Trevor briefed the council on upcoming schedule items and legislative issues to monitor in the 2026 session, including tax and land-use proposals and discussions about single-family zoning and minimum-density requirements. He said the city will likely attend and encouraged council members to sign up for alerts and training; he also noted a National League of Cities one-day event and a meet-and-greet on Dec. 1 in Salt Lake.

On scheduling, Trevor said a special session on Nov. 18 will address a canvass/certification and Phil Austin’s vacancy; the next regular full meeting is scheduled for Dec. 9 and the Jan. meeting will include the oath of office for incoming officials.

The council also discussed a report that the Sewer District bought a farm near Snowville for biosolid disposal; Trevor said the move increases hauling distance but may stabilize or reduce sewer expenses over time.

Next steps: staff will circulate training and legislative information and post notices for the special session and subsequent meetings.
