Beaver City appoints manager, treasurer and recorder; announces 70-acre purchase, enters closed session on litigation

Beaver City — At its Nov. 12 meeting the Beaver City Council made three formal appointments and addressed a property acquisition and a pending litigation matter.

Appointments: The mayor presented nominations for three appointed positions. The council approved Monty Hawkins as City Manager, Patty Simard as City Treasurer and Miranda Martin as City Recorder by voice votes after motions and seconds. No roll-call tallies were provided in the public portion of the transcript for these appointments.

Property purchase: The mayor announced the city finalized the purchase of about 70 acres north of Beaver (a large brown shed property near the county landfill). Staff said the purchase included a bill of sale for on-site assets and that the city inherited the property "with good or bad."
