"The preference is the Cat... they just like that front blade on it better," a road department representative said during the meeting.
Commissioner Kenning moved to approve the purchase "as presented." The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
County staff said the machines were in stock at local dealers and that the chosen unit included required implements. Officials did not discuss specific financing beyond the purchase amount during the public discussion.
The county will take delivery and add the skid steer to the road department fleet; staff said the machine will be used for upcoming paving, shouldering and culvert work scheduled before winter.
