Rockville approves $1,650 contribution to Zion collaborative coordinator

The Rockville Town Council voted on Nov. 12 to approve an interlocal contribution of $1,650 for the town’s share of funding the Zion collaborative coordinator, Emily Friedman.
Council discussion described the collaborative as a multi-agency forum that includes representatives from Kane and Washington counties, the Bureau of Land Management, Zion National Park, UDOT, local municipalities and some businesses. Pam Leach said the collaborative ‘‘does not have any voting power’’ but helps agencies coordinate on shared projects. Leach also said of the coordinator: "She is fantastic."
The coordinator position began through AmeriCorps and the collaborative provides quarterly workshops and cross-agency coordination on trails and other regional issues. The council moved to continue funding the coordinator at $1,650 and approved the interlocal agreement by roll call with all present voting in favor.
Council members asked no substantive changes to the agreement at the meeting; the chair said the collaborative will appreciate the town’s continued participation.
