Nueva Camino described a wave of graphic threats, including emails, voicemails and social‑media messages, directed at her since the remarks circulated. She called the threats "deeply disturbing" and said they do not reflect the character of Redmond. She emphasized her background in military service and respect for the rule of law and said defending constitutional protections is patriotic.
The council acknowledged the statement and reiterated that threats and violence have no place in public discourse. Council leadership said staff and the chief will continue to ensure public safety and communications to address community concerns.
