I think it makes it better," a veteran board member said when comparing flagstone seating with an all-concrete design.
The board discussed retaining existing dedication bricks and relocating other memorial stones so seating and circulation would improve. Chair Sarah summarized the choice and moved that the board recommend the flagstone design; Chuck seconded the motion. The board recorded the vote as 3 yes, 2 no.
Katrina noted the city previously approved $13,000 for initial site work; the landscape architect will now develop the statement of work and cost estimate to send to the mayor and City Council for formal project authorization. "He gave thumbs up on it," a board member said referencing the public-works review.
Next steps: Staff will forward the selected design to the architect and prepare a recommendation package for City Council approval. The board requested the item be re-moved to council after architect cost estimates are provided.
