Siloam Springs reports gains on screeners, district earns a B letter grade

Amy Carter, the district’s assessment lead, told the board that final screener data largely matched preliminary figures and highlighted cohort growth from kindergarten through third grade on math and ELA screeners. Carter pointed to examples where groups improved from the 40s to 60s and 70s on specific measures and said third-grade screeners showed marked gains.
The district’s aggregated performance produced a B letter grade on the state MySchoolInfo portal — the first year the district received its own letter grade separate from individual schools. Carter said the district outperformed state averages in multiple achievement and growth indicators but identified two areas (graduation rate and merit/distinction metrics) as slightly below state targets for certain subgroups. She flagged Hispanic, low-income and English learner subgroups as areas requiring focused interventions to improve on-time graduation rates.
Superintendent Patrick and board members emphasized cohort data as a tool to track instructional impact across years, not just year-to-year snapshots. The district said it plans additional concurrent-credit offerings and postsecondary partnerships to increase merit/distinction pathway completion.
