Temecula Community Services Commission approves Oct. 13 minutes and members offer farewells after council decision to end commissions

Chair Dr. Yuan Hawkes called the final formal business meeting of the Temecula Community Services Commission to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The commission considered a single consent item: approval of the action minutes from Oct. 13, 2025. Commissioner Kingsburg moved to approve the minutes and Commissioner Castro seconded. The secretary conducted a roll‑call vote: Commissioners Castro, DeGraves, Kingsburg, Vice Chair Sizemore and Chair Hawkes each voted "Aye," and the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioners used the remainder of the session for departing remarks. Commissioner DeGraves described the honor of serving and reflected on the city’s growth. Commissioner Kingsburg highlighted recent community events, including Culture Day and a veterans pinning ceremony. Commissioner Castro thanked staff for the division’s programs and said his tenure had helped him better understand city government.
Vice Chair Sizemore expressed disappointment about the city council’s decision to terminate the commissions and urged continued support for arts and resident involvement. "I am disappointed to see the discontinuation of First Friday art night...my hope and prayer for our city is that we would continue also to see the importance of telling our story through art," Sizemore said.
Chair Hawkes closed by thanking staff and commissioners, confirmed a brief special meeting will be held Dec. 8 to approve minutes and a reception will follow, and adjourned the meeting.
Formal actions taken at this meeting were limited to the approval of the Oct. 13, 2025 minutes; no new policy or funding decisions were made.
