Council attorneys explained the consent judgment dismisses with prejudice the lawsuit tied to the denied Sheetz proposal at 12 Mile and Middlebelt, and attaches site‑plan exhibits that would permit the company to proceed at Middlebelt and Grand River. The judgment resolves the city’s exposure on the earlier denied application and sets out that the Grand River site plan will be governed by the attached plans even where recent zoning text amendments might otherwise impose different requirements; the plan will proceed through the city’s administrative engineering and plan‑review process.
The action drew questions from residents who had opposed the 12 Mile location; councilmembers and the city attorney said the settlement does not resurrect a Sheetz at the rejected 12 Mile & Middlebelt site and that the lawsuit dismissal prevents renewed litigation on that site.
