Assistant Superintendent Michelle Nee described the calendar committee's recommendation for an August 31 start date (pre‑Labor Day) after review by principals, union representatives and other stakeholders. Board members spoke in favor of starting earlier to end earlier in June; the motion to adopt the calendar was moved, seconded and carried.
"Let the record note that I am abstaining from voting because it's conflict of interest," a director said during the OSBA nomination vote.
