Conservation panel delays certificate of compliance for 825 University Ave until planting and signage are complete

The Conservation Commission on Nov. 5 reviewed an as-built submission for a sidewalk and ADA ramp project at 825 University Ave and declined to issue a certificate of compliance until outstanding planting and signage conditions are met.
Nick Kelling of Global Design presented as-built plans showing an installed ADA-accessible ramp, permeable pavement sections, two EV charging conduit runs and a series of plantings. "We installed a handicap accessible ramp, as well as an asphalt sidewalk dealing in different material... that is permeable pavement," Kelling said during the presentation.
Conservation staff noted the client missed the appropriate planting season for the native seed mix required in the 25-foot no-touch buffer and that permanent markers reading "Do not disturb protected wetlands resource area" had been ordered but not yet installed. Staff recommended the commission delay issuing the certificate until the permanent signs are installed and the seeding/plantings can be confirmed in season.
Commissioners said the site looked good overall and agreed to revisit certification in spring after plantings establish and permanent signage is installed.
What’s next: The applicant will return in the spring with confirmation of seeded plantings and permanent wetland buffer markers; the commission indicated issuance of a certificate of compliance would be appropriate once those items are complete.
