Council approves routine licenses, event permits and appointments; notes claim for lien on Quito’s renewal

The Town Council approved a series of routine items on the consent agenda including numerous 2025–2026 liquor and related license renewals, event permits for the Bristol Santa House and the State Street Holiday Fair, and reappointments to advisory boards and commissions.
Madam Clerk presented the renewal packages and the council moved and approved the consent agenda and subsequent individual items with voice votes. Paula Morissette and Alicia Barelli described community events — the Santa House opening and State Street Holiday Fair — and the council approved permits for free community events and a limited road closure for the holiday fair.
Council acknowledged a claim for lien attached to Quito’s restaurant filed by Melo’s Fruit and Produce and heard from the solicitor that while transfers of licenses can be conditioned on satisfying a claim, renewals are handled differently; the council noted the claim and approved renewals on the record with that acknowledgment.
Other actions included routine six‑month reviews for Folklore Provisions (liquor and entertainment licenses) — police reported no issues and approvals were granted — and several board reappointments (Conservation Commission, Juvenile Hearing Board and Capital Project Commission) on unanimous votes.
What’s next: Standard next steps on appointments and license renewals will proceed through usual administrative channels; the Quito’s lien will remain a private claim between the parties unless the council is asked to take further action.
