At a special board meeting convened Nov. 6, the Board of Education approved posting a tentative 2025 estimated levy in the amount of $87,073,000 and authorized a public hearing on Dec. 4, 2025 at 7:30 p.m.
Staff told trustees the tentative levy posting is an administrative step required for notice and that final approval will occur at a subsequent board meeting after the public hearing and any adjustments informed by updated property valuations or public input. A district staff member explained the timing differences between calendar-year levy collection and the district’s fiscal year accounting.
One trustee announced an intention to vote against the tentative posting, saying: "I'm going to vote against this primarily because I do not think that we've taken a deep enough dive on the expense side of our budget." Staff responded that the posting uses Scenario 4 for the tentative levy and that revised numbers could be approved after the public hearing.
The board authorized publication of the required legal notices in the Wednesday Journal at least seven days but not more than 14 days before the hearing. The public hearing is scheduled for Dec. 4, 2025 at 7:30 p.m.; the board will consider a final levy resolution following the hearing.
