During the Nov. 13 meeting the Glendale Elementary School District governing board paused to recognize staff and students. Superintendent Segata Jones presented the district’s monthly "Just Because" awards, naming Lucinda Zamora (Discovery office staff) as the employee honoree and asking the Discovery family to accept the recognition on her behalf.
Patrick (Pat) Kaiser of the Kiwanis Club of Glendale presented the superintendent’s student-of-the-month award for November to Mitchell Jimenez, highlighting his leadership and contributions to school communications. The Kiwanis Club also presented a $50 Walmart gift card for the student and awarded Sunset Vista the Kiwanis Inspiring Change School of the Month traveling trophy.
Board members and district staff congratulated honorees and invited families and staff to take photographs. The recognitions were presented as part of the board's regular recognitions segment and required no board action.
