A City of Jonesboro committee on Monday voted to forward to the full council a resolution authorizing the city to enter into an agreement with the Northeast Arkansas Industrial Development Commission (NAIDC) to provide economic development services.
The resolution, read by the committee chair (speaker 2), states the NAIDC was established under prior ordinance to oversee industrial development funds and that the city currently budgets $338,500 combined for NAIDC-related expenditures. The resolution says no increase is proposed for the second year of the agreement and that the same allocations are slated for the 2026 budget.
The committee moved and seconded the item and, after asking for questions and hearing none, the chair said the resolution will proceed to full council for final consideration. The resolution also authorizes the mayor and city clerk to execute the agreement if approved by the council.
No additional detail on specific deliverables from NAIDC or performance metrics was discussed in committee; the packet materials for full council are expected to include the agreement appendix that defines the terms of service.
