Northampton conservation commissioners elect Melissa Curtin chair and Mason Maron vice chair

Members of the Northampton Conservation Commission voted Nov. 13 to elect Melissa Curtin as chair and Mason Maron as vice chair.
During nominations, one member proposed Downey Myers for chair; other members nominated Melissa Curtin and Mason Maron as an alternate slate. After discussion about experience and the workload of chairing meetings, a motion to approve the slate was moved and seconded and passed by roll-call vote.
Commissioners used the remainder of the meeting to preview possible Dec. 11 agenda items, including a Notice of Intent for Bradford Street and a possible Industrial Drive expansion. Members also shared local observations of increased beaver activity at the old Pine Grove Golf Course and discussed tree protection and fencing to limit beaver impacts.
The commission adjourned with holiday wishes to members and staff.
