The Gadsden Independent School District will offer a one-time voluntary retirement incentive of $8,000 to eligible employees who retire between Jan. 1 and July 1, 2026, Human Resources staff told trustees.
Officials said the incentive is intended to encourage eligible employees to retire under New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB) rules and to create staffing flexibility as the district plans for the next school year. Participation is first-come, first-served: Human Resources reported 44 slots for classified employees and 77 slots for certified staff.
How to apply and support: the district will post a Google form on Dec. 3 (closing Dec. 10) and provide three on-site assistance locations with IT support and bilingual help for employees who may need help submitting the form. Human Resources said materials (videos and outreach) were distributed by email on Nov. 10 and that a website will collect all supporting information.
Board response: trustees praised the outreach plan and the inclusion of translation and technical-assistance sites to increase equity for employees with varying technology access. Human Resources said the payout will occur within 30 days of the employee’s retirement date and that eligibility will be verified under NMERB rules.
