Meade School Board elects leadership, keeps monthly schedule and affirms board policies

The Meade School District 46-1 board reorganized at its July 14 meeting, electing Justin Jutting as board president and Aaron Odegaard as vice president by unanimous vote. The elections were conducted by Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt after the oath of office was administered to re-elected and newly seated members.
By unanimous consent the board approved a set of organizational items intended to maintain continuity: the board set regular meetings for 5:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in the Williams Administrative Building (the October meeting was moved to Oct. 14 to observe Native American Day), confirmed bank depositories, and authorized the Business Manager to serve as custodian of district funds and to invest district funds pursuant to Board Policy DI.
The board also adopted existing policies of the former board as a formality so there would be no gap in governance while new members settle in; members may propose policy changes during the year. The board set member compensation at $100 per board meeting and $75 per committee meeting (with a maximum of $166 per day for multiple meetings) and approved state travel and mileage rates for 2025-26.
The newly elected president will work with board members to realign committee assignments at the August meeting. No dissenting votes were recorded on the organizational motions; motions were moved and seconded on the record and carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned after a scheduled executive session and returned for closing formalities.
