Salvation Army outlines kettle fundraiser schedule and holiday support programs in Sierra Vista

Major Brighton Church and Captain Christie Church of the Salvation Army told KWCD listeners the local kettle campaign will run from Nov. 20 through Dec. 24, daily except Sundays, and that kettles typically supply about 10–15% of their Sierra Vista operating budget.
Captain Christie Church said volunteers may sign up at registertoring.org and that most shifts are two hours long between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Participating retailers named on air include Fry’s, Walmart, Safeway, Food City and Dillard’s. “This is our our biggest fundraiser that we do throughout the year,” she said.
The Salvation Army representatives described several holiday services funded by the kettle effort: turkey giveaways (signup required), Thanksgiving lunches (two seatings), grocery assistance for furloughed employees, a food pantry in need of canned goods, Angel Tree tags for children, and an Adopt-a-Family program. Captain Christie provided a local phone contact for clients and volunteers and said the kettle kickoff typically includes a community day on Black Friday when Cochise County deputies help staff sites.
Donation options include cash, checks and an online kettle QR code at each stand, the Salvation Army said. Volunteers are asked to sign up at least 48 hours in advance so organizers can fill shifts. The pair thanked local partners such as Landmark Cafe for support and encouraged anyone in need to call the office for assistance.
