Madison County adopts FOIA policy updates and FY26 administrative-fee amendment

At Tuesday’s meeting the Madison County Board of Supervisors adopted two resolutions addressing open‑records policy and administrative fees.
Miss Clark, county staff, told the board that the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) council notified counties that the FOIA council phone number changed and reminded localities that statutory FOIA requirements were amended in 2023. Staff presented redlined updates to the county FOIA policy and an updated rights-and-responsibilities form and recommended adoption of Resolution 2025‑22 to align county policy with the state changes.
The board moved to adopt Resolution 2025‑22 and approved it by voice vote.
The board then opened a public hearing on proposed FY26 administrative fees and staff presented an amendment that adds an FUEZ segment. Staff said the amendment makes no substantive changes to existing fees; it simply adds the new segment to the fee schedule. The board moved to adopt Resolution 2025‑23 and approved it by voice vote.
Staff told the board these adjustments reflect current practice and that the county will update its website and public forms to reflect the changes. No public commenter objected during the hearings.
