Tricentennial committee recommends new volunteers, confirms interview processes

At its Nov. 12 meeting the Town of Southborough Tricentennial Committee interviewed two volunteer candidates and took action to advance committee staffing.

Eric King, who described himself as a Southborough resident for 33 years and an experienced entrepreneur, marketing professional and volunteer, presented his background and interests in contributing to events and marketing. After brief questions about which subcommittees King might support, the committee moved to recommend he be appointed by the select board; the motion was seconded and the committee recorded the recommendation as carried by voice vote (5–0).

Earlier in the agenda the chair welcomed a newly added committee member (listed in the record as Glynom Delcone). The welcome was brief and formal introductions were deferred.

Committee members noted the separation between fundraising operations (a 501(c)(3) entity) and this tricentennial committee: while volunteers can help with marketing and outreach, formal fundraising remains the fundraising group's responsibility.

Next steps: staff will forward the committee's recommendation regarding Eric King to the select board for official appointment, and the committee will follow up with the newly announced member about roles and expectations.
